Want a D-45 on steroids? This is the guitar for you! This guitar came straight from the minds of the Martin Custom Shop. They created this masterpiece using some of the last Madagascar Rosewood available in the factory and we were fortunate enough to be in the right time and place to purchase this for our store.
Madagascar Rosewood has color and tonal properties similar to its Brazilian cousin without the completely out-of-reach price point. With that in mind, the regulations on harvesting and importing Madagascar rosewood have gotten very stringent, this allows this guitar to appreciate as a Brazilian Rosewood would.
Madagascar Rosewood and appreciating value of this guitar aside, this guitar is really meant to be played. The Adirondack Spruce top gives it even more volume than a standard D-45 and is more in line with the Golden Era Martins of the 30's. Adirondack is prized for its projection, tonal clarity, and dynamic range. Pair that with the highly resonant, full-sounding bass and brilliant trebles of Madagascar Rosewood; you have a guitar you'll never want to put down.
In addition to the premium tonewood they gave this guitar, the builders at C.F. Martin elected to use European Flame Maple as the binding instead of the typical celluloid. Not only does it look amazing, it doesn't have the same issues celluloid has with the binding coming loose.
There's nothing that I would personally change on this guitar. This is a guitar that will not only stand the test of time and would be the perfect guitar to pass down to the next generation.
